Our Mission

The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers, who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Our Goal

We are a student-led organization committed to building an inclusive, supportive, and empowering community for students of all backgrounds.

Our chapter exists to ensure that students, especially those historically underrepresented in STEM fields feel welcomed, prepared, and capable of succeeding in rigorous academic and professional environments.

For many of our members, NSBE is the first space where they see themselves reflected, supported, and encouraged to pursue ambitious goals. We provide mentorship, professional exposure, and community driven support that helps students persist through challenging coursework, overcome imposter syndrome, and transition confidently from the classroom into industry and leadership roles.

Why Your Support Matters

A STEM education is challenging and expensive. Many of our members balance coursework with jobs, family responsibilities, and limited financial support. Your investment will help to remove financial barriers that prevent our members from accessing opportunities that directly impact their academic success and career readiness.

Funds raised will be used to:

• Send students to National and Regional NSBE conferences
  • Sending a student to a NSBE National or Regional conference costs approximately $845 per person. This includes conference registration, hotel accommodations, travel, and a four-day immersive professional development experience.
• Host professional development and networking events
• Provide resources, materials, and programming for our members
• Create pathways to internships, full-time roles, and graduate school
• Invest in engineers who will give back to their communities

  📚 Covers meeting materials and helps provide food and supplies for study sessions and workshops.

  🤝 Funds chapter merchandise, building community, visibility, and pride among NSBE members.

  ✈️ Helps offset conference registration and travel costs and supports bringing in professional speakers and industry experts.

• $250–$500
  🍽️ Partially sponsors a student’s conference experience, including lodging, meals, and registration.

  🏨 Fully sponsors a student’s conference experience—covering registration, hotel, and meals.
