The American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists student chapter at NJIT, or AAEES for short, is focused on environmental professional development and action. We aim to have guest speakers (from the industry, professors, PhD students, etc.), field trips (to learn job skills, see companies, go to job fairs), professional development workshops, and environmental volunteer opportunities (such as park and beach cleanups).
Our goal is to reach as many people as possible, so while we love to see those in the environmental or life sciences field join us, we encourage those of all majors to come to our events and learn new things or perform volunteer work for the community. We are a relatively new organization at NJIT, having only started less than 2 years ago. Given this short time, we have been able to host many successful and beneficial events with our limited budget (compared to longer-established organizations here at NJIT). We've been able to do a lot with a little, and our future goals include being able to take members to conferences, creating longer-term environmental or related projects, strengthening our impact on the Newark Community, and creating stronger relationships amongst professionals, academics, and students interested in our Environmental goals.
By supporting AAEES, you aren’t just funding a club—you’re investing in the sustainable future of our community and the professional excellence of NJIT students.
